I've had a passion for fine art photography in both black and white as well as color for most of my life. As a kid I often got into trouble for going through a whole roll of film in only minutes. Over the years, my hobby has transformed into something more than "just taking pictures." I have found myself becoming more and more enthralled with nature, wildlife, abstract, and fine art photography. As my craft developed, I found myself drawn to a unique angle at an exact moment, without manipulating composition. My subjects revealed themselves, and I was there with the lens, in the right place at the right time. Expressing my personal perspective I try to capture the beautiful simplicity of what I see, a brief instant frozen in time. To capture these split seconds, I don't use color filters or enhancers, nor do I digitally change the image other than the normal dust removal and proper exposer adjustments which have been scanned in high resolution - very few are cropped; but what I do use are telephoto zoom and macro lens. This allows me to get very close to whatever I am photographing. Almost all the images shown on this site are telephoto or macro photos.
My original 35mm Minolta camera had an average "snap shot" lens, and it never produced the more sophisticated results that I wanted. It was not until years later that some amazing photos in a mall display struck me with a new vision and inspired me to rethink my entire approach -- because that's when it hit me: I wasn't getting close enough! In the densely populated city of Cleveland, Ohio where I live, telephone wires, traffic, and industrial sprawl can clutter my view, but the telephoto lens passes though all of life's manufactured debris to zoom in solely on the subject -- no distractions. Through my photography, I try to shift the focus of our fast-paced lives to the purity of one moment captured in time.
